If you know the person you're buying a gift for likes to go to the theater or to other performances, buying tickets to a special event is always a nice idea. It gives the recipient something to look forward to during their newly acquired free time. Many people like to purchase these gifts if they're into giving experiences rather than regular presents. This film…I could watch it over and over again! This is truly a treasure for the nursing profession. In the American Nurse Project, the director, Carolyn Jones, captures the passion of several nurses as she shares their unique stories. This year, at Nursing Management Congress, I actually got to meet Miss Jones, which was such a highlight for me. The book is on my wish list this December – I’ll keep you posted if I receive it! Think about sharing this film with all nurses who are passionate about the care they provide and the people they touch.

While her nursing career might not have left much free time for hobbies and other interests, a new retiree will have all the time in the world to cultivate her interests or maybe explore a new hobby. You could create a gift basket filled with hobby related items. For example, say she’s a gardener, fill a watering can with various gardening tools and equipment and throw in a few packets of seeds. If she’s a whizz in the kitchen, then some cookery books, kitchen gadgets, oven gloves, apron, tasty ingredients will be more suitable. And if you know there’s something she’s been dying to learn, then enrol her in some lessons. ">

If you’re still not sure what the perfect gift for that particular nurse should be, you can always go with a gift card. You can do something broad like an Amazon gift card, where they can buy almost anything (including gift cards to other stores). Other fun options include Starbucks, Gas gift cards, Movie gift cards, or other food and entertainment options.
After taking finals and graduating, the recent grad will likely have a lot of stress and tension built up. You could always buy them a day of relaxation. You could contact local spas, or treat them to manicure or whatever else you think they’d enjoy. Also, since they may be doing a lot of job interviews, you could always schedule them to get their hair done, and other beauty pampering. Of course, this not only applies to female grads—males would still enjoy a nice massage.
Most underscrub tees are meant solely to give you an added layer of protection under your scrubs, but not this one. The Core One Underscrub Tee is as versatile as it is soft and comfortable, making this the perfect gift for the nurse who needs to seamlessly transition from the hospital, to the grocery store, and even to the gym. The buttery-soft performance fabric is lightweight and wicks away moisture, and the reinforced seams ensure that this gift will work as hard as nurses do.
If you’re someone that has been interested in buying your favorite nurse a stethoscope, but don’t know which one they’d like this stethoscope makes for a very thoughtful gift that any nurse is sure to appreciate whether they’re a graduate nursing student, just starting out in their career or are simply in need of a new stethoscope, but haven’t had a chance to get one.
As any nurse knows, the amount of “stuff” that piles up in your bag seems to never end. From medical gear to car keys, there is a lot that nurses lug back and forth between work and home. This bag is made specifically for nurses, with plenty of pockets and compartments that allow for easy organization, along with a water resistant fabric and heavy duty zippers to withstand the wear and tear that comes with the job.
A watch is a borderline necessity for any nursing uniform, and this is one of our top choices. There’s no point in breaking the bank for a watch they will wear on the job, we’re just looking for something practical (and stylish) here. It needs to be easy to clean, water resistant, lightweight, and have a second hand to be used for timing purposes. This one checks all of those boxes, and also features military time and interchangeable straps to match any outfit.
NRSNG Academy’s Fundamentals course is the course you’ll definitely want to have for your first semester of nursing school! We introduce the Nursing Process and how to start thinking like a nurse. We’ll talk you through legal and ethical issues and how to handle emergency situations. This course will be helpful when you’re in your Fundamentals class, all throughout nursing school, and even after you graduate as a reminder and a refresher of how to think like a nurse in every aspect of the job!
I don't know about unique, but some popular ones include gift certificates to local uniform shops as well as catalogs (new grads love getting all those new scrubs instead of that horrible school outfit!). Also a basket of nursey logo supplies like note cards and pens, memo pads, lanyards, name badge holders etc for those who are wrapped in the cutesy nurse doodads

In addition to the traditional gifts of stethoscopes and pen lights, here are a few of my favorite items that you may want to consider gifting to the nurses in your life. This past fall I spent some time reading recent books by some of my favorite nurse authors and I really enjoyed them. I’ve also already shared my strong feelings about a certain documentary, but I have to include it here on this list too. Take a look…
