This film…I could watch it over and over again! This is truly a treasure for the nursing profession. In the American Nurse Project, the director, Carolyn Jones, captures the passion of several nurses as she shares their unique stories. This year, at Nursing Management Congress, I actually got to meet Miss Jones, which was such a highlight for me. The book is on my wish list this December – I’ll keep you posted if I receive it! Think about sharing this film with all nurses who are passionate about the care they provide and the people they touch. ">

A patient to keep alive: a house plant. Countless studies have proven that having plants in the home leads to a healthier lifestyle. If your nurse doesn't have a green thumb to speak of, gift a plant that's easy to take care of, like aloe or bamboo (aloe even has healing properties). As the plant grows, your nurse will fondly remember its significance and appreciate its beauty.

If you’re someone that has been interested in buying your favorite nurse a stethoscope, but don’t know which one they’d like this stethoscope makes for a very thoughtful gift that any nurse is sure to appreciate whether they’re a graduate nursing student, just starting out in their career or are simply in need of a new stethoscope, but haven’t had a chance to get one. In reference to the above post about purchasing the review of her choice, probably the best one I found--and I looked at a lot!--also turned out to be about the least expensive. Google for [Mosby CAT NCLEX RN online] (minus the brackets or course) and then scroll down to where they have the online version. No waiting, $40 plus tax, unlimited uses for 30 days and it behaves just like the NCLEX. I used it for 2-1/2 weeks, did something like 6 of the tests (intending to do many more, of course), and I breezed through boards. ">
This Nurse Charm Bracelet is simply beautiful. This bracelet features a personalized, engraved name tag charm plus; 5 Vintage images of Nurses from the early 1900’s, 13 Charms or syringe, medical bag, medicine bottle, medical symbol, nurse with medicine, nurse’s hat, nurse with clipboard, angel nurse with medical bag, stethoscope diploma, bandage, angel, filigree heart, 12 Crystals, hand wire wrapped in silk and silver moonlight, and 6 Crystal Chatons in silk and silver moonlight.

You can even have items personalized with your facility's logo or personal message. A custom imprint makes your presentation extra special and memorable!

Just had an idea, not sure if it's suitable for you, but if she's expressed an interest in a review course for NCLEX and is hesitating over cost, maybe a home-made coupon that offers to pay for the course of her choice? Keep in mind they go for up to a few hundred bucks, but might be a good gift for those so inclined. Get the money worry out of the way. ">

This is after wearing this sock for one hour. They’re long and reach to my knees. I’m 5’8” and have long legs. There’s also a good arch support. I have high arches and can feel the pressure from the sock. If I am on my feet AT ALL during the day, my left ankle swells. It doesn’t hurt really. Just gets ugly. (Did I mention, I’m a klutz?) I just got these today. I already love them!
NRSNG Academy’s Fundamentals course is the course you’ll definitely want to have for your first semester of nursing school! We introduce the Nursing Process and how to start thinking like a nurse. We’ll talk you through legal and ethical issues and how to handle emergency situations. This course will be helpful when you’re in your Fundamentals class, all throughout nursing school, and even after you graduate as a reminder and a refresher of how to think like a nurse in every aspect of the job!
After three months of heavy use, this bag is still in perfect condition -- and I'm very hard on my bags. It looks just like the picture, and is surprisingly sturdy for the price. I've gotten a ton of compliments on it! Just make sure to check the dimensions before ordering, as it's a little small for a messenger bag -- somewhere between a purse and a netbook bag.
How 'bout for those tired of runnin' dogs of hers getting "broke in" to running on the floors as a new nurse? Try a foot bath/massager, easy to use, soooo soothing to those aching feet when she gets home from work! Add a pedicure kit to it containing reviving lotion for feet, callous pad, nail polish, toe separater to aid in keeping toes apart while painting toenails, that type of accessory in addition to the foot massager/foot bath itself. It is electric, just add water to a certain level, turn it on....ahhhh, instant blessed relief with heat, no less!

Becoming Nursey by Katie Kleber, BSN, RN is a must-read for nursing students, new nurses, and those nurses who need to be inspired by that new-nurse feeling that they had in the past. Miss Kleber, also known as Nurse Eye Roll, is someone I’d like to work with! You can tell from the personal experiences that she shares in the book that she is a team player, organized, and compassionate and respectful to patients, their families and caregivers, as well as her colleagues in nursing and other disciplines. The discussion on time management is spot-on. Another favorite aspect of this book is how Miss Kleber keys in on preventing medication errors, and the importance of owning them so that we can learn from them. Consider Becoming Nursey as a gift for nursing students and new nurses – they’ll definitely relate to Nurse Eye Roll’s experiences and benefit from her advice. ">

NRSNG Academy’s Cardiac course covers some of the most common diseases and most important information related to the Cardiovascular system. This system is responsible for moving the blood throughout your body. If it doesn’t work - well, it’s not good! We will show you how to identify any abnormalities in a patient and how to care for them confidently. We also break down some of the more complex topics and make them easy to understand! ">
Winning rave reviews from readers, “I Wasn’t Strong Like This When I Started Out: True Stories of Becoming a Nurse” is a collection of well-written narratives from nurses who offer candid accounts of their most memorable growing experiences, from treating terminal cancer patients to car accident victims — it is not light reading, but at the same time is relieving to know that others have walked in your shoes (and compression socks). Hard to put down, nurses will find many relatable experiences that conjure all kinds of emotions.

A trip or weekend getaway. Your nurse has spent so much time studying that an escape may be just what's needed. This type of gift can be something small, even a staycation at a hotel in your city! Be sure to chat with them about scheduling, but who doesn’t love a surprise trip to a lake, or a weekend yoga retreat? The NCLEX is next, so help your nurse escape for a couple of days before the studying commences again!
Speaking from someone who is graduating on Sat- I would tell people to give her $$$$$$$$$$$$ if they want to give her something. I know it isn't very specific or unique to nurses but if she is in a similar situation as I am-she probably needs the cash! Even though I have worked all through school, I am completely broke and am praying relatives will give me cash because even though I have a job lined up -the soonest they will let me start is the 13th of may. So there you have it-a nice thoughtful card with some greenbacks would be a beautiful gift for a new grad to recieve. And maybe a gift cert-for some nice new scrubs!
This adorable Nurse Graduation Gift Package makes a perfect gift for any nurse graduate. This package features a nurse figurine, who holds a diploma and a silver colored medical caduceus. Also included in the gift package is a customized print with the name and photo of the nurse grad, and a set of four Florence Nightingale Nurse Notecards with a unique quotation on each.
One of the reasons I bought these is another reviewer said the toes were loose, which was exactly what I needed. My second toe is the same length as my big toe and most socks Cause pressure and a sore nail. These socks fit loose on the end of my toe and are snug the rest of the way up my leg and so I am thrilled. They are warm which is great for winter but I doubt if I’ll wear them in the summertime. Although I have some lovely colorful ones for summer,
The best retirement gift will depend on the recipient's interests and personality as well as your relationship. You might look for a keepsake or ornament, or a book that offers personal, legal or financial guidance on navigating the next stage of their life. Another approach is to buy them something they can use for a hobby or interest they'll now have more time for, such as golf. Movies also make great retirement gifts. ">
For many years the newly retired nurse will have dedicated her life to caring for others. It’s about time she enjoyed a spot of pampering herself. Give her a gift voucher that can be exchanged for a massage, manicure, pedicure, or hair style. She could use it for a reflexology session, day at her local spa, Reiki session, or a makeover. If there are a few people that are willing to pool finances, you might be able to treat her to a weekend away.

Graduating from nursing school is a huge accomplishment that deserves to be recognized. Share your best wishes with your new RN with graduation gifts for nurses. Surprise them with a sweet treat to help celebrate the occasion or help them relax and rejuvenate with a spa set after all her hard work. Whatever your favorite nursing grad loves, you’re sure to find the best selection of personalized presents for nurses from Gifts.com.
Theresa Brown, RN, has been a favorite nurse author of mine for a long time. She is a frequent contributor in the New York Times and American Journal of Nursing, and in 2011, wrote Critical Care: A New Nurse Faces Death, Life, and Everything in Between. In The Shift, Miss Brown takes the reader through her full 12-hour shift in a busy oncology unit. In addition to learning about the patients she cares for with such knowledge and skill during this shift, what strikes me is how Miss Brown illuminates her decision-making. We know that as nurses, critical thinking comes with experience, yet Miss Brown truly explains how she prioritizes care without the reader even realizing that is what’s happening. Read the book – you’ll see what I mean! This will make a perfect gift for hospital nurses who understand just how  much can happen in one 12-hour shift.
Nursing scrubs that get softer with every wash? I dare you to find a nurse who doesn't dream of that. Scrubs are a wardrobe staple for nurses—they can never have too many! But these nursing scrubs are unparalleled in their comfort (crucial for 18 hour shifts), durability (can last over 100 washes without fraying or fading), and fit (purposeful tailoring is flattering and gives unrestricted movement). Add an extra special touch with personalized embroidery in fade-resistant thread!
This book contains true narratives from nurses who remember the difficulties they encountered when they first entered the profession, and reflect upon what makes their career so rewarding and what gets them through their hardest shifts. Perfect for a nurse who might be feeling discouraged, the stories in the book will renew his or her personal strength and will remind them why they became a nurse in the first place—to help people.   ">
There are some gifts that are a little more universal. For example, any nurse would likely appreciate a thoughtful card and a nice double walled vacuum sealed mug. I mean, who doesn’t drink water? And even if they already have one, it’s always nice to have one you can keep at home and one you can take on the go. I have 3, myself. One of the office, one for the car, and one at home.
