A watch (wristwatch or fob, engraving optional). Let’s face it, nurses pretty much need to use a watch for many things, from checking respirations and heart rates to documenting time. Furthermore, a watch is useful for practical, everyday time management. So surprise the nurse in your life with a really nice one, this watch from Timex is one of our favorites!
A unique gift I have received and given as a gift many times, is the Humanity Bracelet. It can be purchased in pewter, sterling or gold. It has seven, two sided links with the virtues: Loyalty, Unity, Passion, Joy, Kindness, Humor, Hope, Courage, Love, Trust, Honor, Family, Truth and Charity engraved on the links. 'Google' Humanity Bracelet for a variety of sites. The bracelet is a unique keepsake.
If you know the person you're buying a gift for likes to go to the theater or to other performances, buying tickets to a special event is always a nice idea. It gives the recipient something to look forward to during their newly acquired free time. Many people like to purchase these gifts if they're into giving experiences rather than regular presents. ">
This is after wearing this sock for one hour. They’re long and reach to my knees. I’m 5’8” and have long legs. There’s also a good arch support. I have high arches and can feel the pressure from the sock. If I am on my feet AT ALL during the day, my left ankle swells. It doesn’t hurt really. Just gets ugly. (Did I mention, I’m a klutz?) I just got these today. I already love them!

It seems like nurses have one of the most important jobs in the world and usually get half the credit they deserve!  This time of year is perfect to let that special nurse in your life know just how much you appreciate them, respect them, and are thankful for them.  Whether they’re newly graduated, a veteran in the medical industry, a male nurse (yes, they totally do exist so start showing some respect!), or you’re looking for a birthday gift perfect for the funniest registered nurse you know, we’ve got your back. From traditional to outside-the-box,  check out some of the best gifts for nurses (so far) in 2019.
If you’re standing for more than 6 hours per day, your legs and feet undergo a lot of physical stress. Compression socks help alleviate the strain, prevent you from swelling up and keep from blood collecting in the lower extremities. We recommend compression socks by Nurse Mates, which come in a variety of styles including Cause for a Cure, a great way for a nurse to show her moral support.
Cash may seem like a no-brainer, but with all of the time spent in nursing school, a new graduate will likely appreciate any money they can get their hands on. Plus, cash can buy anything, so no one will ever be disappointed with money–you’re guaranteed to get them exactly what they want. I know I was most happy with all the cash I got! Also, this is by far the easiest gift to give too.
Another idea is to simply create a “grab bag” of goodies for the nursing grad. There are so many nursing supplies you could possibly get for recent nurse graduates, and so I’ll just list some of the most common you may want to buy. Of course, it goes without saying that you’ll definitely want to make sure they don’t already have the item you want to buy.
A trip or weekend getaway. Your nurse has spent so much time studying that an escape may be just what's needed. This type of gift can be something small, even a staycation at a hotel in your city! Be sure to chat with them about scheduling, but who doesn’t love a surprise trip to a lake, or a weekend yoga retreat? The NCLEX is next, so help your nurse escape for a couple of days before the studying commences again!
Theresa Brown, RN, has been a favorite nurse author of mine for a long time. She is a frequent contributor in the New York Times and American Journal of Nursing, and in 2011, wrote Critical Care: A New Nurse Faces Death, Life, and Everything in Between. In The Shift, Miss Brown takes the reader through her full 12-hour shift in a busy oncology unit. In addition to learning about the patients she cares for with such knowledge and skill during this shift, what strikes me is how Miss Brown illuminates her decision-making. We know that as nurses, critical thinking comes with experience, yet Miss Brown truly explains how she prioritizes care without the reader even realizing that is what’s happening. Read the book – you’ll see what I mean! This will make a perfect gift for hospital nurses who understand just how  much can happen in one 12-hour shift.

When I am searching for a truly unique gift for someone, Etsy is always my first stop. I love the fact that most of the items are handmade and one of a kind. I also feel great about encouraging small local businesses. Etsy has plenty of original gift ideas for the nurse in your life, from drinkware to jewelry. I always get tons of compliments when I wear my Etsy buys.  I know the nurses in your life will too!
Most underscrub tees are meant solely to give you an added layer of protection under your scrubs, but not this one. The Core One Underscrub Tee is as versatile as it is soft and comfortable, making this the perfect gift for the nurse who needs to seamlessly transition from the hospital, to the grocery store, and even to the gym. The buttery-soft performance fabric is lightweight and wicks away moisture, and the reinforced seams ensure that this gift will work as hard as nurses do.
Serving the duel purpose of relaxation while also humidifying the room, an aromatherapy diffuser is the perfect gift idea for a nurse who wants to come home and unplug from it all. We recommend the InnoGear brand thanks to its great user accolades and features such as auto shut off and changing color options that both adults and kids will find fun. ">

Becoming Nursey by Katie Kleber, BSN, RN is a must-read for nursing students, new nurses, and those nurses who need to be inspired by that new-nurse feeling that they had in the past. Miss Kleber, also known as Nurse Eye Roll, is someone I’d like to work with! You can tell from the personal experiences that she shares in the book that she is a team player, organized, and compassionate and respectful to patients, their families and caregivers, as well as her colleagues in nursing and other disciplines. The discussion on time management is spot-on. Another favorite aspect of this book is how Miss Kleber keys in on preventing medication errors, and the importance of owning them so that we can learn from them. Consider Becoming Nursey as a gift for nursing students and new nurses – they’ll definitely relate to Nurse Eye Roll’s experiences and benefit from her advice.

Lastly, you could always order flowers or balloons and send to your recent nursing school graduate as a gift, and this will be a great way to show them you care. I listed this one last because, although it is very thoughtful and creative, flowers quickly die and balloons deflate. But it is still a wonderful option if you can’t think of anything else, and some people LOVE flowers, while others are more practical and would prefer to have a gift that will last more than a day or so.
Waterproof and durable these (set of 2) tiles allow you to easily find your keys, your smartphone, or anything that you attach it to.  You can even see it on a map where and when you left your prized belongings behind!  This is perfect for the nurse who may be lacking sleep and, well, could use a little help finding their misplaces keys and whatnot.
Nurses play an important part in many people’s lives. And that goes for family and friends, as well as for patients. The work that a nurse does is admirable, and they can always be relied on for compassion and respect. When it comes time for a nurse to retire there will be a lot of people queuing up to wish them all the best. Co-workers, current and former patients, as well as friends and family, will all want to mark the event in a special way.
After taking finals and graduating, the recent grad will likely have a lot of stress and tension built up. You could always buy them a day of relaxation. You could contact local spas, or treat them to manicure or whatever else you think they’d enjoy. Also, since they may be doing a lot of job interviews, you could always schedule them to get their hair done, and other beauty pampering. Of course, this not only applies to female grads—males would still enjoy a nice massage.

Nurses love to show off their hard-earned work by using tags that say “LPN or RN, or Nurse.” Or you can get their name or something else on it. I’ve seen a lot of nurses with a personalized front tag. Some even have their license plates say something cute. You can also get nursing ornaments that hang from the rearview mirror. Just make sure the nurse is into that sort of thing first.

Speaking from someone who is graduating on Sat- I would tell people to give her $$$$$$$$$$$$ if they want to give her something. I know it isn't very specific or unique to nurses but if she is in a similar situation as I am-she probably needs the cash! Even though I have worked all through school, I am completely broke and am praying relatives will give me cash because even though I have a job lined up -the soonest they will let me start is the 13th of may. So there you have it-a nice thoughtful card with some greenbacks would be a beautiful gift for a new grad to recieve. And maybe a gift cert-for some nice new scrubs! ">
This adorable Nurse Graduation Gift Package makes a perfect gift for any nurse graduate. This package features a nurse figurine, who holds a diploma and a silver colored medical caduceus. Also included in the gift package is a customized print with the name and photo of the nurse grad, and a set of four Florence Nightingale Nurse Notecards with a unique quotation on each.
We are yet to find a water bottle or travel mug that matches up to a Hydro Flask. It can keep your water cold for up to 24 hours, and your coffee hot for up to 6 hours – that’s pretty tough to beat. Not to mention it’s very durable and safe, has several different caps that can be used, and does not present any condensation on the outside of the bottle. $28 may seem like a lot for a water bottle, but it’s worth every penny.
Every single handmade ERKA stethoscope is a unique masterpiece: elaborately polished and chrome plated by a master craftsman. With multiple models designed for any nursing level and specialty, these stethoscopes are unmatched for quality and optimal auscultation. For an extra special touch, you can also choose from a wide range of different tube colors and chest-pieces to render a nurse's everyday life a little more colorful.
Now this is a subscription box we can get behind.  This one will be delivered once a season (just four times a year!) so she’ll really look forward to getting what’s inside! It comes with 8-10 full sized top-notch products in the fitness, health, beauty, and lifestyle categories that are valued at over $200.  We love that it’s not travel size stuff!  Learn more about your buying options here.
After all of those years in school, what better to prepare for a new job than a quick getaway to some vacation spot? Some people like to get their recent graduate friends or family a quick vacation before they enter the workforce. You can pitch in with others, or simply buy a hotel room. Of course, it goes without saying that you’d better make sure they are interested in going, and will be able to do so.
When my parents asked me what I wanted for my nursing school graduation gift, I asked for a gift card to a scrub shop!  Most new nurses don’t have a lot of scrubs already–they may only have the scrubs with their school’s emblem stitched on.  So the gift of new scrubs is a very practical option!  I love Lydia’s Scrubs for their wide selection and reasonable prices, and it’s easy to order online.
What you’ll get: A collection of true stories told by different nurses in practice. The stories are in a narrative form and often feature “first” moments in practicing the nursing profession like first code, first death and many more. Helpful reflections about what keeps these nurses stay in this profession are nice to read especially if you’re doubting the career you chose.
Just had an idea, not sure if it's suitable for you, but if she's expressed an interest in a review course for NCLEX and is hesitating over cost, maybe a home-made coupon that offers to pay for the course of her choice? Keep in mind they go for up to a few hundred bucks, but might be a good gift for those so inclined. Get the money worry out of the way.
Celebrate years of hard work and the end of a long career—as well as the beginning of more relaxing free time—with retirement greeting cards and retirement gifts. Whether the retiree is planning on more travel, more golf or more time with their grandchildren, you'll find great retirement gift ideas at Hallmark. The best retirement gifts come from the heart and may depend on your relationship with the retiree. Think about their hobbies and future plans. Inspirational books and movies are always popular retirement gifts as well. ">
One of the reasons I bought these is another reviewer said the toes were loose, which was exactly what I needed. My second toe is the same length as my big toe and most socks Cause pressure and a sore nail. These socks fit loose on the end of my toe and are snug the rest of the way up my leg and so I am thrilled. They are warm which is great for winter but I doubt if I’ll wear them in the summertime. Although I have some lovely colorful ones for summer, ">
We touched on the importance of nurses taking care of their feet a bit earlier, and while compression socks can help, nothing plays a bigger role in protecting your feet than shoes do. Obviously, different nurses prefer different styles. Some prefer athletic shoes they can tie, while others prefer something more along the lines of slip-ons and clogs. This is entirely a matter of opinion, but for our money, we have found Dankso to be the most desirable footwear brand for nurses. Their combination of comfort, support, and style is tough to beat. If you want to get a nurse a pair of shoes they will really appreciate, look no further than Dansko. ">
A busy nurse won’t have had much time for new experiences. So give her a gift that brings plenty of them. She may not yet have any definite plans for her retirement, so introduce her to some possible options. Would she relish the chance to learn to fly? Does she long to become a salsa dancer? Does travel to an exotic country feature in her future plans? Sign her up for some foreign language classes. Retirement is also going to bring her plenty of time to enjoy leisurely lunches, so buy her some gift coupons for her favorite restaurants or coffee shops. ">

Why are wanting to get this nurse a gift? They type of gift you purchase for them may be largely impacted by the reason for the gift. If you are buying a retirement gift for a nurse, then you might look for something like a nurse figurine, as a stethoscope would be pretty useless to a retired nurse. However, a stethoscope would be a perfect gift for a nurse graduate. Or maybe you’re a nursing student looking for the perfect gift for a nursing instructor. A thoughtful piece of nurse wall art to hang in their office or a cute nurse coffee mug would likely do the trick.
NRSNG Academy’s OB (Obstetrics) Course breaks down the most important things you need to know to care for a client before, during, and after pregnancy. Every aspect is broken down into manageable chunks to eliminate confusion and overwhelm. We help you understand what common risks and complications are, how the baby grows and develops, and how to assess both mom and baby after the baby is born. We even talk about medications that are commonly given during pregnancy.
If you’re someone that has been interested in buying your favorite nurse a stethoscope, but don’t know which one they’d like this stethoscope makes for a very thoughtful gift that any nurse is sure to appreciate whether they’re a graduate nursing student, just starting out in their career or are simply in need of a new stethoscope, but haven’t had a chance to get one.
